My Opinion on Health Care ...
So many of our citizens are without basic health care insurance. In that alone, how does anyone justify the statement that we are the "best country in the World?"
Who comes first?
For a fraction of what we are spending on the war for Iraq, we could be providing basic universal health insurance for all of the citizens of this country; let alone just the children - as once proposed and still not answered, either. When do we, the citizens of this country, get to come first when it comes to the monies this government spends to improve the welfare of
those without?
We're all going to be old someday
There are elderly who did not or could not plan for their welfare when they would grow old. There are elderly who planned but things changed somewhere along the line and their savings were somehow lost or significantly reduced. And, there are the lucky ones who made plans that worked out nicely for their retirement cares. No matter how you get old, you will undoubtedly need more care to be there than when you were younger. And, there should be a reliable health care system waiting for you when you get there.
Not everyone can afford insurance
The cost of living has increased steadily over the past 10 years. Housing has skyrocketed. Gasoline, too. There are things we need from day-to-day that we must buy. The rest, if any is left over, is gambled on insurance or doctor bills or the unexpected setback. Everyone should have access, if needed, to basic universal health insurance.
